One of the main issues for any new business is how to name it. For Lisa and Lorraine, that was not a problem. Estolia was their Grandma’s name and she was not only their source of inspiration but also they learned from her how to cook amazing Mexican salsas with very little resources. So when the time came to launch their business selling bottled salsa, the decision of how to name it came very easy: they name it Estolia’s.
But Estolia’s is much more than the brand for a delicious Mexican salsa. Let’s find out what’s the real purpose of this enterprise and Cómo lo Hicieron on our latest a episode. You can listen to it now on the Podcast app or any podcast platforms.
Estolia’s salsa saves lives mission benefits la charities
The salsas from Estolia’s Food Products aren’t just delicious, they’re changing lives by donating all profits to Los Angeles charities.
With four different salsas – classic, pineapple, salsa verde and salsa asado – each one benefits a different charity.
All the proceeds from the salsas benefit charities which have very personal meanings to the two local women – Lorraine Alderette and Lisa Vigil – who took their family recipe and turned it into a life-saving mission.

Using her abuela’s salsa recipe, this chef is helping people in need
Lisa Vigil was inspired by her grandmother’s salsa recipe and her family tradition of sharing, to create a line of salsas for the sole purpose of helping others in need. She donates 100% of the profits to charity.
Vigil’s company, Estolia’s Food Products, is named after her grandmother who fled the the U.S. during The Mexican Revolution. “My Abuela never left the kitchen, and I’m carrying on that tradition,” said Vigil. Lisa started her food company in 2011, but launched Salsa Saves Lives only five months ago. Each jar is dedicated to raising money for a charity that’s close to her heart.

In just a few months Estolia’s salsas have raised $2000 dollars for charity. However she’s hoping to raise much more now that she’s secured distribution. She says she’s in negotiations with two national grocery chains.

Her Asado Salsa profits have gone to charities helping animals in need including Neigh Savers Foundation, Race for the Rescues, and The Rescue Train.
