Our fideo recipe is simple and delicious and works well as a stand alone soup or as a side dish. Toasting the pasta adds layers of flavor and pairs perfectly in this soupy tomato broth.
For added flavor use one of our salsas or a dollop of The Sauce to create a one of a kind dish. ¡Ajua!
Ingredients
3 tbsp of avocado oil
1 small bag of fideo, letters, stars....
2 c broth of your choice (chicken, beef, or vegetable)
1 small can of tomato sauce
1/4 white onion, grated or finely chopped
1-2 tbsp The Sauce, Salsa Clasica or Salsa Asado (add more for extra-heat and flavor)
1/2 avocado slices (optional)
Cilantro (optional)
2 tbsp of Knorr natural bouillion (optional for added flavor)
Directions
1. Add oil to pan/pot on medium-low heat.
2. Add pasta and cook a minute.
3. Add onion and cook until pasta begins to slightly brown.
4. Add broth/water, tomato sauce, and The sauce.
5. Turn up heat until it begins to boil. Then reduce to low.
6. Cook until pasta is tender.
7. Top with sliced avocado
8. Sprinkle with cilantro.
Variation
Add chicken to make a heartier soup and top with your favorite Mexican cheese such as cotija or queso fresco.
To make fideo seco Cook until all liquid is absorbed.
